About
Fatma Çiftçi graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Fine Arts, Glass Department in 2007. She graduated from the Graphic Arts Department with a double major program at the same university in 2009. She completed her Master's Degree with thesis at Anadolu University Institute of Fine Arts, Glass Department. She completed her Proficiency in Art education at Dokuz Eylül University Fine Arts Institute, Ceramics and Glass Department. Both theses she authored received support within the scope of Scientific Research Projects. The extended edition of her master's thesis, which was funded by Anadolu University Scientific Research Projects, was released as an e-book in 2020.
In addition to her academic education, while continuing to improve her technique by participating in trainings at the Glass Furnace, she was awarded a merit scholarship by Urban Glass New York in 2016. She won the Merit Award in the TR Ministry of Culture's Fourth Contemporary Art Project Competition in 2017. She was awarded the Takako Sana Scholarship, GAS, in 2018. She received the James Whitney Scholarship from the American Glass Guild and the Corning Museum of Glass Studio Scholarship in 2022. In 2024, she won an invited artist fellowship at the Corning Museum of Glass, Rakow Research Library.
She obtained hands-on instruction in sustainable glass molds, neon and plasma, kiln-formed glass, stained glass (painting), glass restoration, and conservation techniques during her scholarships. She has taken training courses at the Glass Furnace Foundation taught by seven distinctive foreign artists as a student and teaching assistant since 2004. Those practical training are Glass Fusion, Glass Molds, Frit de Verre, Neon&Plasma, Glass Blowing, Flame-working (boro&effetre) and Sand-Casting Techniques.
She opened her first solo exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Glass Arts in 2017. She participated in many international group exhibitions and contemporary art galleries with her glass works. She worked as a workshop manager, designer, instructor and translator. His articles were published in the culture and art pages of Zeck Yaşam Kültür magazine between 2004-2019 and he worked as the art director of the same magazine.
Born in 1984, the artist is currently working as an academic at the Department of Ceramic and Glass Design at Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University.
She performed her solo exhibition in 2017 at the Contemporary Glass Arts Museum. She took part in various international group exhibitions and contemporary art galleries with her glass works. Her work has appeared in both national and international collections. She worked as a designer, trainer, translator, and studio manager. She worked as a research associate at B.S.E. University, Anadolu University, and Dokuz Eylul University.
